So the other day at work my boss and I got talking about V10s for some reason. So I told him about the Ford developed V10 they wanted to put in the new Ford GT and when that was cancelled some engineers shoved it into a Mustang. I can only imagine how great it would sound. How cool would it have been if Ford actually built them. Here is the link for those that are interested.

Ford had the 6.8 from the trucks, I wish it had more aftermarket support.

This was different then the 6.8, this was two 4.6 casts that the cut up and welded to make a V10. The had custom cams and cranks made.

Yep, I know, the 6.8 was a Triton. The DOHC would’ve been a cool motor, but I just want a Ford V-10 that can make decent power.

And one that didn’t spit out spark plugs regularly.

Came here specifically for the V10 Mustang II. Something very simple and elegant about it.

I drove one, the one I drove was white, not the one in the Motor Trend article. They brought it to the Ford Romeo Engine plant where I work. At the time I owned a 2000 C5 and I guess someone told them so they asked me to take it for a spin and let them know what I thought.

It was fast but couldn’t hook up the tires. The engine was smooth and pulled hard. The interior was rough, but it was just and engineering toy. I remember it had a Pro 5.0 shifter.

The engine bay was full!
